Two versions of the Carp Heritage Walk are currently available.
Use a mobile app on your smart phone to guide you through 25 points of interest in the village.
Download a PDF with map, text, and photos and print it out for a self-guided tour.
Park for free near the Huntley Community Centre at 108 Juanita Avenue and begin your walk there.
Choose from three different tours.
Downtown Historic District - 22 points of interest in the village core and 3 kilometers long. This tour will take you about 90 minutes to complete. You can follow the route described by the app or explore the sites in whatever order you wish.
Carp Hills Natural History - One point of interest takes you to the beginning of a natural history tour of the Carp Hills, which starts over one billion years ago. You will need to load the Hidden Lake Park tour to view the 12 points of interest. About 2 kilometers round trip.
Diefenbunker and Carp River Valley - One point of interest and an outdoor interpretive trail about the Diefenbunker for a 1.7 kilometer round trip. Buy a ticket to visit the Diefenbunker: Canada's Cold War Museum for the full experience.
How to get the Carp Heritage Walk mobile app for smart phones.
The Carp Heritage Walk is available on a mobile app called Pintales, which is available for free on the Apple Store and Google Play Store.
Once you’ve downloaded and installed the app on your phone you can view the Carp Heritage Walk interactively online.
The GPS-enabled mobile app provides interpretive information at points of interest.
The app shows a map with the points of interest, which are described with text, photos, and external links.
The app generates an audio alert near a point of interest.
Download and install the Pintales app from the Apple Store or Google Play Store.
Open the Pintales app on your phone. Agree to the Terms of Use.
Enable Location Services. This will turn on your phone's GPS.
Enable Notifications so that you can receive alerts as you walk.
A list of trails and tours will appear.
Select the Carp Heritage Walk. A new screen will open and ask you to Start.
You can now view the Walk online!
Begin your journey back in time.
Walk toward the Huntley Community Centre to receive your first notification and welcome information at #1.
Choose one of the three tours and follow the instructions for where to go next.
Your location is shown as a blue dot on the map.
Expand or shrink the map by placing two fingers on the screen and drawing them apart or together respectively. Move the map location by placing one finger on the screen and moving it to recentre the map.
When you walk near a point of interest, the app will notify you with an alert. Open the app and select the icon or image at the bottom to view point of interest screen.
On the point of interst screen, swipe the photos left to see them all. To view photos in full screen mode, simply select a photo. Swipe left to see them all. Zoom an image by using two fingers to pinch in and out. Select the back arrow at the top left to return to the text.
Select the back arrow at the top to return to the map.
When you are finished with the tour, select the back arrow at the top of the screen to return to the trail list screen. This will stop the app from monitoring your location.
(Once a notification is triggered for a point of interest, it will not alert again.)
The Carp Heritage Walk remains on your phone so that you can access again.

You can also explore the 25 points of interest on your phone wherever you are. Simply open the Thirty Trail app, activate the Carp Heritage Walk, and select an icon to view the information and photos.
