About the Walk
Five community organizations in Carp have come together to create the Carp Heritage Walk, a walking tour around the village that highlights its history.

In the last twenty years, Carp has grown from a small village to over 2,000 residents. In addition, many visitors come to Carp for the Farmers' Market and the Diefenbunker Museum without exploring other village venues. New residents and visitors alike are unaware of the area’s history.
Our group of local organizations wanted to change this.
The Carp Heritage Walk has multiple benefits.
It adds to the village vibe, fosters civic pride, and improves awareness of the area’s history.
It educates and informs in a way that is fun and healthy. The three tours offer different distances for physical activity goals.
It promotes local businesses by encouraging residents and visitors to walk through the village and discover the diversity of goods and services available.
It supports Carp as a “15-minute community”, one where people can walk or bike to places that meet their daily needs.
It supports Carp’s Community Design Plan, which promotes a walkable, vibrant rural village.

Future plans.
The group’s volunteers plan to add physical signs at key historical points of interest in the village. This will require fundraising and working with people who own the buildings. See our Donate page for how you can help.
Acknowledgements.
The Carp Heritage Walk would not be possible without the dedication of the Huntley Township Historical Society (HTHS). The Society has generously allowed the use of photographs from their archives.
In creating the Walk we used many sources.
Special thanks to Peg Blair, Janice Guillemot, Roger Thomas, and Joan Caldwell of the HTHS who provided stories, photos, articles, and suggestions. Whenever we needed help, they were there!
