24.  Carp’s one billion year old history is visible in the striking Precambrian Shield landscape of the Carp Hills, also called the Carp Ridge.  The ridge re-emerged from under receding glaciers and the ebbing Champlain Sea between 10,000 and 8,000 years ago.

25.  Learn about the Diefenbunker, a four-storey underground bunker for Canada’s defense against nuclear attacks in the Cold War.  Climb a small hill to an outdoor interpretive trail about the Diefenbunker for a 1.7 kilometer round trip.  The hill also provides a spectacular view of the Carp River and of the farms in the fertile river valley laid down by the Champlain Sea.
